Isabel Rodriguez Mora is a Venezuelan social psychologist who graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela and currently works for a women’s right organisation in London. Her undergraduate thesis on “The discourse on democracy” won the Inter-American Prize of Psychology. Her PhD (University of Cambridge, 2004) explored the theoretical frameworks and ethical and political implications of UNICEF psychosocial intervention after the disaster caused by the floods in Venezuela in 2000. She also completed an MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology (University of Cambridge, 1998) and an MSc in Political Science (Universidad Simon Bolivar, Venezuela). Her research interests include: feminism and psychology; psychosocial interventions in emergencies; critical discourses about trauma and recovery; community-based interventions following emergencies; qualitative research; alternative forms of political action and collective memories and migration. She was Honorary Research Fellow at the Research Institute for Health and Social Change at Manchester Metropolitan University (2009-2012), was a lecturer at Universidad de Los Andes and Universidad Simon Bolivar (Venezuela) and worked in several emergency intervention projects in Venezuela and Cuba for local and international NGOs
