Manuel Llorens is a psychologist from Caracas, Venezuela, with a specialization in Clinical Psychology from the Hospital Universitario de Caracas and an MSc. in Community Psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University. He works at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas as a professor on the Clinical Community Psychology Program and coordinates the research team at the university’s community centre. His work is on clinical and community aspects of violence, youth, exclusion and sports participation. He has worked in sports psychology having been the psychologist of the Venezuela National Football Team from 2008-2013. His publications include: “Niños con Experiencia de Vida en la Calle: una aproximación psicológica” (Paidós, 2005); “Terapia para el Emperador: crónicas de la psicología del fútbol” (Libros Marcados, 2012); “Acuerdos Comunitarios de Convivencia ante la Violencia Armadas: Pistas para la acción” (Aminstía Internacional, 2013); “La Belleza Propia: arte, adolescencia e identidad” (Fundación Polar y Parque Social, 2014). Manuel is also a writer who has earned prizes for his essays (Premio Transgenérica de la Fundación para la Cultura Urbana, 2007 and 2012) and his poetry (Premio Fernando Paz Castillo, 2006) for his book: “Poemas para un Lunes Bancario” (Fundación Celarg, 2007).
