Michael Arfken is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. His research focuses on the psychological, cultural, and economic dimensions of social and environmental justice. In his research, he draws on a wide range of perspectives and approaches from ecopsychology, phenomenology, and feminism to cognitive science, hermeneutics, and ecological psychology. His work has been published in a variety of academic journals and edited books including American Psychologist, Social and Personality Psychology Compass, Mind, Culture and Activity, Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences, Theory and Psychology, Psychology Research Handbook, Encyclopedia of Critical Psychology, and the forthcoming Handbook of Critical Psychology. He has also served as a guest editor for special issues of the Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology and the Annual Review of Critical Psychology.
